Oh, We’re Going to Itza!

A short ride away from Belize’s mainland lies a diver’s dream destination, the Itza Resort. Unlike many other resorts that are in such breath-taking environments, the Itza Resort is renowned for being a driving force behind environmental issues and it is a popular haunt not just for divers but also for scientists and researchers.

Itza is one of the top divingresorts Belize has to offer and it is the biggest beach front resort specifically for divers and it is the closest to the famous diving spot, the Great Blue Hole. It has been owned privately by the same family since the late 1960’s and, not only do they keep their prices incredibly reasonable considering the paradise of their location, but their goal is to preserve the nature surrounding the atoll as much as possible while allowing visitors to enjoy it.

The Itza Resort houses a total of 24 rooms that are within a stone’s throw of Long Caye beach where you will also find the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Naturally you can take to the water and enjoy a swim, scuba diver or a snorkelling but, if you would rather stay on top of the waves, you can paddleboard or kayak your way across the deep blue sea. If you want to explore the atoll, hire a bike and take yourself on a tour or, if you simply want to relax, lounge in one of the hammocks on site. The nights at Itza are just as beautiful as the day with live music and dancing entertainment being provided on the beach around a glorious campfire with the stars shining brightly overhead.

Itza Resort offers amazing Belize dive packages as it is home to one of the second largest and most pristine coral reef ecosystems in the Americas, the Mesoamerican Reef. It is popular with divers but, for Itza residents, you will usually have this little slice of paradise to yourself. The visibility of up to 100 feet and the calm, warm waters provide an ideal diving setting and, if you want to branch further afield, there are incredible diving sites less than half an hour away from the Itza Resort.

The GreatBlue Hole is a mere 30 minutes away by boat and Itza prides itself on being the first boat out in the mornings to reach this natural phenomenon. This iconic sight is a firm favourite with divers from all over the world due to its incredibly sea life and staggering 125 metre drop. You are able to explore the sinkhole yourself or you can enlist the knowledge of the divemasters at Itza who will be with you every step of the way to ensure you have a wonderful yet safe experience. Itza Resort has everything you could possibly want: blue skies, crystal seas, a abundance of paradise and adventure, what more could you ask for?
