historic areas in London is that section called ‘The City’. It is where some of
the most prominent attractions and landmarks are located. Stretching across a
mile of central London, there are a host of medieval and modern structures that
dot the landscape including the financial hub of the city.
Guests staying
at the Montcalm Hotel London at
Finsbury Square will find it a convenient location from which to explore The
City. Guests at the hotel after a long flight will find a visit to The Montcalm Spa a very refreshing
experience. After enjoying a sumptuous breakfast or brunch at the onsite Marble Arch restaurant they can

International commerce:
There are more than 500 financial institutions located in the City including
some of the biggest banks. Despite its limited size, more than 40% of
international financial transactions are conducted within the City. It also is
home to some of the leading international insurance companies doing business in
the area. To see the many beautiful sights all around take a leisurely stroll
around the City that will give you an idea of its economic clout despite its
limited size.
Best contemporary architecture: The City is home to several splendid contemporary buildings
befitting of London’s status as a business and commercial hub. Some of the most
recognised structures include the building called the Cheesegrater (122
Leadenhall Street), the stunning glass structure called the Gherkin and the
Walkie Talkie at Fenchurch Street. All three of these structures define the
modernity of London and house some of the biggest companies and businesses.
Some also have fabulous rooftop dining venues with breathtaking aerial views of
the city. The Walkie Talkie is home to the famous Sky Garden spread over three
floors with a well-maintained landscaped garden to explore at leisure.
Iconic establishments: The
City is not famous for being home to foreign businesses and companies, it also
is the location of some of the most iconic and historic establishments since
the Middle Ages. There is the Bank of England and its famous museum that
showcases the development of British currency over the centuries. It has a
wonderful collection of exhibits including an actual gold brick which visitors
can lift for themselves. Another institution of immense historic significance
is the Royal Exchange, which helped London in becoming a dominant economic
power in world trade from the 1600s onwards.
Luxury properties: With
London and in particular the City a financial powerhouse, it is no surprise
that some of the best luxury properties are located in this part of London.
With hundreds of thousands of business travellers arriving in the City, there
