Top Tips When Visiting London
If you are visiting Britain for the
first time the London is an absolute must. Not only is it the capital city of
the United Kingdom, it holds over 1000 years of British history and culture all
in 1,572km². Planning is key in this city, especially if you have a tick list
of things to see to help you make the most of your visit. This guide aims to
give a few insights into what to do and what to expect when you’re in the big
city.
London
Doesn’t Stop.
London has its own pace and, if you
fail to match it, there is a big possibility that you could be trampled on
slightly, however, this is only in regard to pedestrian traffic as road traffic
and the underground are a whole other story.
If you enter the underground from the MontcalmRoyal London House between 6am and 9am or from 5pm until 7pm, be prepared
for chaos as you have never seen it before as this is when rush hour occurs. Saying
that, during rush hour everything goes slower; the roads are gridlocked so it
is best not to travel via bus or taxi and the tube are crammed with people
trying to squeeze themselves onto a carriage. If you are a lover of personal
body space and don’t relish the idea of being pressed up against a sweaty
armpit or five, stay away from any modes of transport during this time. Simply
head to a coffee shop, a boutique or the nearest park and just wait it out.
Take Some Time Out
While you are in London to explore, it
is essential that you take a break from the London pace and relax. By visiting
one of the Royal parks or taking advantage of one of the Montcalm spa deals,
you can recharge yourself, making it feel like you really have had a break
away.
Visit
the museums - they’re free!
If
you want to save some pennies, spend your time exploring the artifacts and
paintings, especially when entry to the major museums and art galleries is
completely free. The British Museum is a must and it will take a large part of
your day because it is filled to the brim with artifacts from all over the
world and from every patch of time including Ancient Greece, Mesopotamia,
Persia, Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, Africa and Asia. There are certain
must-see pieces such as the Rosetta Stone and the Egyptian mummies and there are
several external exhibitions that are held here throughout the year; several of
the past exhibitions have included the Terracotta Army and Tutankhamun. It is a
fascinating place and there is always someone on hand to give tours or extra
pieces of information on an era or an object. Be sure to look at the main
atrium of the museum because it is breathtaking and make sure to enjoy a Champagne Afternoon Tea London for an added experience in the museum.
