Looks aren’t everything, but they sure do help when it comes to picking your London holiday activities. Whilst visiting the city, you’ll no doubt want to get a taste of the classic London aesthetic, and there’s nothing quite like a pretty London street to get you started.
Whether a quiet residential or a hubbub heavy market street, London is famous for its iconic cobbled lanes and winding canals. It’s probably the reason you might choose our hotel near Hogarth Road in Kensington as your boutique accommodation.
Guests at the Park Grand Kensington hotel will no doubt want to explore their area, so we’ve collated a selection of some of our favourite streets in the city, and why they reflect London so perfectly.

Columbia Road

Based in East London’s Hoxton area, this quirky street is full to the brim with colourful terraced houses, alongside traditional East End pubs, refurbished to attract the trendier locals who have made this area their home. That’s not to say that some of old school London doesn’t still echo through these streets, Sunday mornings on Columbia Road bloom with plant life with the weekly Flower Market.

Whilst Hackney spent most of its history on the fringes of London, it has now been a bourgeois hubbub, full of arts and culture. Broadway Market represents the East London resurgence, with its canal side lane full to the brim with independent book and art shops, boutique fish and chippies and flower hanging hipster pubs. Don’t miss the beautiful canal side walk, taking you all the way to Victoria Park a few miles downriver.

With our Kensington London Hotel right around the corner, Carnaby Street is a must for our guests.

This side street in Kensington has its inhabitants to thank for its beauty. With lovely houseplants, hedgerows and wisteria creeping along its arched walls, this cobbled street provides some solace from the hectic city lifestyle.

Portobello Road

This famous market street in Notting Hill promises diverse weekly stalls selling everything from vintage jewellery and furniture to foodstuffs. With its multicoloured houses and classic London pubs and cafes, this street is popular for tourists and locals alike.

With a huge Bangladeshi and Jewish community, expect bustling bagel shops and curry houses, alongside vintage clothes shops and food markets.
