Exploring Belize’s beautiful beaches

The Central American nation of Belize is renowned for its world-class beaches, which are second to none. One of the top attractions for marine enthusiasts is the popular Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which after Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is one of the best known on the planet. With an abundance of nature, incredible ancient culture and loads of adventure activities travellers are spoilt for options on a trip to Belize. Of course, perhaps the icing on the cake is its magnificent beaches.

Those with an interest in scuba diving will find plenty of diving resorts in Belize ideal to stay. A good choice would be any of the Lighthouse Reef Atoll Accommodations with the Itza Resort one of the best in the area. Travellers can also ask for any of the special Belize dive packages, a great way to save on accommodation expenses.

Placencia Village: One of the most charming beaches in the area is Placencia Beach that draws locals and visitors in drove. Stretching over 15 miles the most well-known beach spots lie between Seine Bight and Maya Beach located around Placencia Village. The texture of the sands varies from one beach area to another. Some of the popular beaches have plenty of vegetation and beautiful coconut trees. These beach areas are great to enjoy an evening stroll with plenty of restaurants and trendy bars to enjoy your drinks. The reef itself is around 20 miles offshore from the village.

Hopkins Bay: Stretching over five miles of expansive sandy beach Hopkins is an idyllic crescent bay that perfectly frames the stunning beaches. With lovely guesthouses lining the area its rustic atmosphere gives it a very tranquil appeal. There are a good number of popular resorts along the route. The unique thing about exploring Hopkins Bay is it offers an authentic local experience of the place. There is plenty of lush green vegetation and lush coconut trees growing in the area.

Ambergris Caye: Among the many cayes that dot the landscape of Belize Ambergris Caye is numero-uno.  All it takes is a bit of searching to find the loveliest beaches in the area. Visitors can head to the eastern shore to get amazing views of the famous Mesoamerican Reef. One of the more unique experiences in the area is the splashing of the waves on the reef section. Another brilliant aspect of the place is the stunning clarity and colour of the ocean water. It is a sublime turquoise, a shade of colour that makes it look like any of the beaches in the Caribbean. Since most of the beaches in the area are public it is a major draw for visitors to Belize.

Belize’s lesser-known cayes: There are an impressive 200 plus cayes all across Belize’s coast, with loads of beaches to explore. The only hassle is they are accessible by boat and a good number of them are private property. Some are also protected national park sections. The best way to visit some of these is to take any of the guided tours on offer to these remote beaches.
