How to Do a Weekend in West Hollywood, California
So, you’ve got two days to spend in West
Hollywood - where do you even start to make the most of all this vibrant, Los
Angeles neighbourhood has to offer? With plenty of shopping, hiking and sightseeing
and entertainment opportunities, it’s important to plan your time wisely if
you’re hoping to fit in a little bit of everything.
Here’s our quick guide on what to see and do
when your time in West Hollywood is limited, for those who don’t even know
where to begin.
Check in to a chic hotel
The truth is, you’ll be spoilt for choice when
it comes to accommodation hunting in West Hollywood. With chic boutiques and
big name brands to choose from, plus amenities to consider, it’s difficult to
know where to start - but don’t dwell on your choice of hotel too much, because
you’ll want to be out and about, making the most of the City of Angels!
Hotel 850 SVB West Hollywood At Beverly Hills is a wonderful all-rounder,
with cosy yet stylish rooms and a fantastic roof deck, where you’ll be served
complimentary wine next to a roaring, outdoor fire.
Explore the hotspots
Kickstart your weekend with a stroll along
Sunset Strip where, unusually, glamorous high-end brands meet the slightly
seedier side of the city. The Pacific Design Center is well worth a visit, too,
perhaps not to go inside, but to admire from the surrounding streets; painted
in bright shades of pink, blue and green, the Center sticks out like a sore
thumb against the desert-like terrain, and makes for some great pictures.
Let’s not forget the legendary Hollywood sign,
which you can catch glimpses of from many a West Hollywood street, and of
course the Walk of Fame which stretches over a mile on Hollywood Boulevard.
Be entertained
Hollywood is one of the most famous
entertainment districts in the world, so it’d be a crime not to make the most
of that when taking a visit to the area, even if it is just a flying one!
The Comedy Store hosts stand-up nights pretty
much every night of the week, or there’s the Troubadour nightclub, which
regularly holds live gigs from up-and-coming bands. Other venues include the
Roxy Theatre and the Laugh Factory, so book some tickets, kick back and be entertained
for the evening.
Take a hike
Although Los Angeles is a sprawling city, there
are plenty of hiking trails dotted around and West Hollywood is home to a few
of the most fantastic. No matter whether you’re a fitness fanatic, or you’ve
never walked anything close to a hike in your life, there are several trails of
various difficulty - all with the same breathtaking views to reward you with
once you reach the top.
